It really was too much to ask for, but really, was it asking so much, just one night, home in front of the telly?

Apparently so. The usual bastard bastard redball 4.15er so I had to stay back late, and fret, as the transport gets thin on the ground where I abode.

I suppose I should be very grateful I did manage to get through the door in time to see Lee Majors hand on the tv tough guy mantle to (not so) young Valley on Human Target. It's so cheesy, but kinda sweet, and really, really a lot of sun king/dying king mythos, if you've been over indulging in the Rosemary Sutcliff oeuvre (guilty as charged). What can I say? It was a cheap and cheesy tv moment but I liked it, because it wasn't just referencing tv tradition, and tv of my childhood at that, but much, much older traditions, too, if one wants to read such meaning into a daft show like Human Target, and one really shouldn't.

Monday and everyone was away and I was locked out of the network, so I, ahem, found other things to do, then took myself off home early, got straight on a bus and got a seat. This never, ever happens, and certainly not all at once. I mean, you know me, it rains on the clothes on the line so I put them in the dryer, which then dies, and the shop entirely fails to deliver new dryer, etc, etc. My life is bloody Murphy's Law in fiendish action.

Two shows, two interviews, two completely different viewpoints.

On White Collar, despite the large amount of press about the supposed bromance between Burke nand Caffrey, TPTB keep explicitly stating that no matter how friendly the boys are, deep down they don't trust each other and are willing to betray each other and, this, we are told, is what keeps the show exciting.

I beg to differ. It keeps the show distressing and distancing. Who wants to watch two supposed friends knife each other in the back? Or, at least, be expected to watch it and still respect them in the morning? (Not on, not even in Oz politics).

Butch and Sundance? Hardly. More like Pat Garrett and billy the Kid.

Meanwhile, over on Sherlock, we're told that no matter how prickly the boys are with each other, deep down there is a real connection and friendship and yes, even affection. They understand they are what each other needs, the missing parts of themselves. All very co-dependent but when it comes down to it, they would do anything for each other.

So, which is the better approach? Well, Holmes and Watson have been going for over a hundred years, so if longetivity and popularity and continued relevance was any measure, I'd have to say the Holmes/Watson aproach to bromance wins.

High tea in a lush Japenese style garden, or whatever the Japanese version of Chinoiserie is, with a jazz band (singing all the big band, Rat Pack songs) and a retro fashion parade. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I knew it was gonna be one of those weeks. So I'm gonna try, very uncharacteristically, to keep it brief and to the point. Yeah, right, good luck with that, I hear you all groan.

This week has had me happily wallowing in my Adam-12 happy place with those Matt Bomer pics they've been posting. I didn't even know I was that much of an Adam-12 fangirl (Gage and DeSoto were my particular tipple as a wee thing) but I couldn't figure out why the sight of Officer Matty was making me that happy, until it popped into my head as I was geting off the bus at sunset that it was that particular childhood trope that I was responding to. Ah well, better go get me a box set then - grin.
