So I went to Sound Relief afterall. Oh, I'm tired, but it was worth it. I bounced to The Presets in a thunderstorm, and it was so brilliant and just massive fun. Of course it would have been considerably less fun if the nice girl I'd been sitting/standing next to all day (and minding seats, because the whole allocated seats things wasn't being that closely observed) discovered she had two plastic ponchos when I discovered I had, somehow, none, otherwise I'd have been a miserable drowned rat enduring the Presets in a thunderstorm. Did I mention how much I love the Presets? And how weirdly right it was I should bounce along in steamy plastic. Heh.

Also found my camera (apparently the pocket universe that stuff in my bag vanishes to could only contain my plastic raincoats and had to disgourge my missing camera) but it ran out of disk space during Icehouse (and yon bugger at home wasn't taping it). Ooops. Never mind. I wasn't sure about this whole Icehouse thing but Iva played We Can Get Together and Can't Help Myself and oh, joy, happiness and delight. Never has anyone with cramps and burns boogied away so much in a downpour. Okay, he also played Electric Blue, but a girl can't have everything. Hey, at least I got to hear the old tunes, just one more time. And I gotta say, Iva kinda rocked.

Hello. As I don't have time to post every day any more, I've got a collection of fun quotes to start off with.

First up is DT himself, providing a masterful example of why hiring actors who know their stuff is a good thing. Here, the boy demonstrates his thorough knowledge of what makes a superior action figure by way of years of field testing, bless:
The trick is, he says, to have a completely blank expression when they photograph you. He learnt this as a child, playing with his own Doctor Who toys. “If the figures look happy, or fierce, or anything, it’s bound to ruin some scene you’ve got going on. The versatile action figure is the blank-faced action figure.” - Behind the scenes of the Doctor Who Christmas Special, starring Kylie

Next up is David McCallum, commenting on MUNCLE slash:
"I mean the idea of Robert and I getting it on (laughs) I think is the funniest thing I've heard this year. With all due respect to Robert, who's a very attractive, nice fellow." - Cool cat doesn't crack under pressure

And finally, because I've been off my game and letting all the Robin Hood reviews slip by, but this one popped into my inbox three times and it's reasonably representative of the rest of the crop (sorry Jonas): more: the ginchiest )

Whee! I'm sneaking peeks at the bespectacled one while I'm supposed to be writing up a report. Wicked, but he's so damn cute. Girlie squee.

In other news I've just had two bits of feedback for a LOM fic, both okay, so I'm feeling pleased, and confident enough to go forth and thump the next one into shape. I really just want to play with Sam and Gene.

I was watching Wire in The Blood on UKTV the other day and I was thinking upon how, in the 90s, you weren't a cop show unless you had a profiler on board. Then it became all about forensics. I was hoping that Life on Mars might bring it back to being all about fast cars slamming into carboard boxes, sliding across bonnets and slamming suspects into walls.

Well, be careful what you wish for, because, according to The Independent, they're bringing back The Professionals. Yay? I mean, as much as I try to forget, that putrid remake still lurks around the edges of my consciousness, like a mould that won't shift from the corner of the bathroom. Still, if it was a little more Life on Mars and a little less New Avengers, this time around, we might be lucky.

And before you start lecturing me about how right wing the Profs were, I never knew it at the time. When I were lass, it was all cut up on the local station and all we ever saw were car chases, sliding across bonnets and slamming suspects into walls. A proper cop show, in other words. As to the plot? Plot, what plot? I only saw the plots when I bought the dvd sets back from Britain a couple of years ago. And I was stunned, I can tell you. It was another show. Not the one I remembered at all.
