Not much news today as I'm overtired, busy and I was growing ever grumpier until the best friends pulled me out of it, the way best friends do.

I was going to go out tonight but all this running about and hardwork at work and at home, with every lunch hour spent running about an overcrowded shopping mall and still being up at midnight scrubbing away at something, I'm just ready to crash.

I was annoyed because I can count on one hand the number of times I've been out this year, and it can't be solely blamed on my lack of a social life because I've had to turn down a good many kind invitations, just because I've felt like crap, and after the debacles in May & November, I'd rather not go out when I feel like crap. It leads to badness and more social death. I guess when you're this sleep deprived it really is like having six beers under your belt. Certainly I manage to bypass what passes for my diplomacy chip.

I've got so much work to do today anyway, by the time I finish tonight I'll be all cross and I wouldn't enjoy it. So I gave my ticket to a friend. I hope she enjoys it as much as I was looking forward to it. Tis a far, far better thing I do today, etc, but I'm actually happy she's going. I was so sad she was too busy last time, and she deserves a treat. Another friend inspired me to try and combine a little fun with my errands on the weekend (and also to go out when I feel like it, not when it's convenient for other people. This prebooking stuff never works but there's lots of spur of the moment things to do). Maybe a little sidetrip before the Xmas shopping (part x).

Maybe it's just the change in weather. After leaving me sized grease stains on my bed this week, melting from the 45C heat as I was, the southerly roared in last night, direct from Antartica, and I swear there are ice crystals in that wind. In fact I know so, 'cause it snowed at the (ahem) Snowy Mountains this morning (yeah, yeah, they spent all night coming up with that name). Snow? In December? It's damned unnatural, that's what it is. At least those hideous decorations down at the local shops were mostly taken care of by the gale force winds. Heh.

Oh, one of the last little vestigle scraps of the greenbelt from the 60s and 70s that remained near us (ie not concreted over) was ablaze last night. Much smokey sadness. I suppose I'll be feeding even more birds now. And the electrickery is still going up and down like a whore's drawers, as me Dad used to say, so there will be no killing of the Ewan page today, either. Most frustrating. I'm working on killing Jude, too, when I'm not busy doing other things. I need a holiday. a real one.
